WLABT to Celebrate Obon July 30-31

The 68th annual Obon Festival will be held at West Los Angeles Buddhist Temple, 2003 Corinth Ave. in Los Angeles, on Saturday, July 30, from 4 to 10 p.m. and Sunday, July 31, from 3 to 9 p.m.
The event features games, a raffle, and bonsai and ikebana displays. Menu items include udon, beef and chicken teriyaki, sushi, won ton, Imagawayaki, shaved ice and more.
On both days, West L.A. Taiko will perform at 5:30 p.m. and Obon dancing starts at 6:30 p.m. This year’s dances are “Bon Odori Uta,” “Eijanaika,” “Sembazuru,” “Nikkei Ondo,” “Honen Bon Uta,” “Yosakoi Bon Uta,” “Yosakoi Naruko Odori,” “Hanabi Ondo,” and “Shinran Ondo.”
