Two Political Veterans

Norman Mineta (left) attended a presentation by S. Floyd Mori on his book “The Japanese American Story” on Jan. 23 at the Japanese American National Museum. Mineta is chair of the JANM Board of Trustees and Mori is a member of the JANM Board of Governors. Both are political veterans — Mineta was mayor of San Jose, represented Silicon Valley in Congress for two decades, and served as commerce secretary for President Bill Clinton and transportation secretary for President George W. Bush; Mori, a former mayor of Hayward (Alameda County) and former California assemblyman, has served as national president, executive director and director of public policy for JACL and is currently president and CEO of the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS).
