Sushi Making Class on Oct. 11

SAN FRANCISCO — A master chef will be the main speaker at Cherry Blossom Alumnae’s eighth annual CBA Conference on Sunday, Oct. 11.

This year’s conference will be a hands-on sushi-making class, including the rainbow roll, California roll, hand rolls and more. All ingredients are organic and sustainable.


“Master sushi chef Kaz Matsune has shared his passion for art and food with top companies in the Bay Area, like Google, Facebook, Macy’s and Genentech,” said 1982 Cherry Blossom Queen Rene Shimada Siegel. “We’re honored and excited to share this unique educational and cultural experience with our local Japanese American community.”

The sushi class will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Issei Memorial Hall of the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCCNC), 1840 Sutter St. in San Francisco Japantown.

Fresh seafood for the sushi includes blue crab, yellowfin tuna, shrimp and salmon. Vegetarian options are also available.

This event is open to the public. Registration cost for the event is $75, which includes the sushi class, sushi lunch, recipes and cooking tools. To register, visit http://bit.ly/CBAsushi.

Cherry Blossom Alumnae is a 501(c)3 non‐profit organization composed of women who are former court members of the Northern California Cherry Blossom Queen Program.
