SAN JOSE — This Sunday, March 10, on “Asian Pacific America” with Robert Handa:


San Francisco-based playwright and performer Brenda Wong Aoki was awarded a commission from the Hewlett Foundation to create a new work premiering in 2021. “J-Town, Chinatown: Our Town” will capture the histories of the nation’s first Chinatown and Japantown of San Francisco, interweaving Aoki’s mixed-race family stories.


Yu-Ai Kai, Japanese American Community Senior Services celebrates 45 years of serving seniors and the San Jose Japantown community. Celebrate with Yu-Ai Kai at its 45th anniversary gala, “Bridging Generation,” on Saturday, March 16, at 5:30 p.m. at the Santa Clara Marriott Hotel, featuring keynote speaker Kristi Yamaguchi and a special ukulele performance by Herb Ohta, Jr.

Airs at 5:30 a.m. on NBC Bay Area, 6 p.m. on NBC’s COZI TV (Comcast 186).
