BCSF’s 78th Ginza Bazaar This Weekend

SAN FRANCISCO — Buddhist Church of San Francisco, 1881 Pine St. in San Francisco, will present the 78th Ginza Bazaar and Bon Odori on Saturday, July 23, from 1 to 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 24, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Bon Odori will be held on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to join in the dancing.
The food court will offer Spam musubi, hibachi tofu, Daruma dogs, BCSF’s famous chicken, barbecue shortribs, beef curry, chirashi, inari and makizushi, plus sake, Okinawan beer.
The bazaar will also feature a photo booth, Buddhist Women Association’s white elephant boutique, bingo, performances by Jiten Daiko, BCSF Kids Taiko and GenRyu Arts Taiko, ikebana, an acupressure booth, Buddhist Bookstore, arts and crafts, games for kids, a silent auction and a raffle.
Nearby parking is available at Japan Center Garage, Post and Webster streets (entrances on Post and Geary streets).

Saturday, July 23
12:30 p.m.: Opening ceremony and performance on Octavia Street featuring GenRyu Arts Taiko with Melody Takata, founder.
12:45 p.m.: Opening service on Octavia Street with Rev. Ronald Kobata, resident minister, BCSF.
1 p.m.: Ginza Bazaar officially opens. BCSF Gym — Japanese food concessions, bingo, silent auction, BWA Boutique, BCSF Ministers Corner, bookstore; Stuart Hall Courtyard — Cultural presentations and performances; Stuart Hall Downstairs Cafeteria — Children’s games and booths.
1 to 4 p.m.: Asian American Donor Program (seeking bone marrow donors) in Stuart Hall Courtyard.
1:30 to 2 p.m.: Bon Odori practice (last chance to learn the dances) on Octavia Street with Tara Mochizuki and Hanako Fujimoto Sensei.
2 to 2:30 p.m.: BCSF Hondo tour with Rev. Kobata. Gather at temple entrance at the corner of Pine and Octavia.
2:30 to 3 p.m.: Ke ‘Olu Makini O Mauna Loa San Francisco Hula Halau with Erika Tamura on Octavia Street.
3 to 3:30 p.m.: San Francisco Kendo Dojo demonstration with David Nakanishi in Stuart Hall Downstairs Cafeteria.
3:30 to 4:30 p.m.: Ikebana demonstration by Nobu Kurashige Sensei in Stuart Hall Courtyard.
3:30 to 5 p.m.: Acupressure booth in BCSF Gym-Boy Scouts Room.
5 to 5:30 p.m.: BCSF Hondo tour with Rev. Kobata.
5:30 to 5:45 p.m.: Super Bingo in BCSF Gym.
