Sakai Unleashes New Zombie Thriller

Local writer and producer Koji Steven Sakai announces the release of his latest Amazon Kindle World novella, “Operation: Survive.”

The authors believes the title is the first zombie thriller to boast an Asian American lead character.

Bryan Suzuki has been obsessed with the end of the world since the first grade. Thirty-plus years later, he’s still waiting for the apocalypse. But now he’s got a well-stocked bunker and a family.

So when he gets word about a mysterious Ebola outbreak at O’Hare International Airport and an attack at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, he’s ready. He tries to warn his co-workers and his wife, who happens to be in Chicago for business.

The problem? No one believes him. Not even his young teenage son — whom he pulls out of school via gunpoint. Almost as soon as they get to the bunker, all hell breaks loose. Variants — aka super zombies created by a weaponized version of Ebola — are on the hunt. Will Bryan and his son be able to survive the coming apocalypse? And at what price?

This novella takes place in Nicholas Sansbury Smith’s bestselling “Extinction Cycle” Kindle World series. The books are a culmination of relentless military action and well-researched medical science that bring the zombie apocalypse to life in a way never seen before.

“Operation: Survive” is available for just $1.99 at Amazon.com and a Kindle reader is not required. For a chance to win a free copy, visit Sakai’s Twitter page, twitter.com/ksakai1.

Sakai is the founder of Little Nalu Pictures LLC, and has written and/or produced several feature films, including “Haunted Highway,” “The People I’ve Slept With,” “Monster & Me,” and “#1 Serial Killer.”

His debut novel, “Romeo & Juliet vs. Zombies,” was released by Luthando Coeur in February 2015, and his graphic novel “442” will be released in 2017 by Stela, a new online comic book company.

Sakai has been working on a Kickstarter campaign for a film adaptation of “The Big Bachi,” based on the Mas Arai mystery series by Naomi Hirahara.
