Oxnard Obon Set for July 9
Cosplayers are welcome at the Oxnard Obon Festival.
OXNARD — Oxnard Buddhist Temple, 250 S. “H” St. (between 2nd and 3rd streets) in Oxnard, will hold its Obon Festival on Saturday, July 9, from 1 to 8:30 p.m.
Bon Odori will take place at 6 and 7:30 p.m. The final dance practice is on Thursday, July 7, at 7 p.m.
Exhibits, demonstrations and cultural activities will include bonsai, Buddhist art, children’s games and sumo wrestling fun, judo and karate, taiko, Japanese dance (classical and folk), cosplay (Japanese costume play), and Dharma service with Q&A session.
The festival also offers a farmer’s market with fresh produce and flowers, Japanese boutique and handicrafts, used books, food and drinks, silent auction, and benefit drawing and prizes.
